I recently shot an exclusive story “Silent Signs” for Ben Trovato. I was beyond thrilled when Editor in Chief, Marius Troy brought me onto the blog for a exclusive story. Ben Trovato happens to be one of my favorite blogs right now. Such an honor to be among great inspirational artists.

Beautiful/Decay Magazine - Photo Spread

Back in 2011 I was fortunate enough to be asked by the editor of Beautiful/Decay Magazine to contribute to their Class Clown issue. I jumped at the offer and couldn't believe that I was actually going to be in Beautiful/Decay. In high school I used to collect their magazines and someday wished I could somehow be in it, but just thought it was merely silly dreams and didn't think much about it until the opportunity knocked. Gosh, I'm so blessed to be among great artists in this issue.

My life, lately

Finally took out my new lens (85mm 1.8) for a test on the Nikon. Love it so far. Took so many bird and beach photos while out at Santa Monica Pier for Oliver's first beach visit. Love how this film came out even though it's expired film and I got it developed at Costco. Not bad Costco, although you get what you pay for. It's lo-res and super grainy.

Speaking of which, I've been getting a lot of emails lately people asking where I get my films processed. Well, I used to go to The Icon, but it's a bit pricey so I started going to Richard Photo Lab and LOVED the guy that works there, his name is Steve. He's super awesome and so friendly. It's only a couple bucks cheaper than The Icon, but Steve is the deal breaker, hahaha so I keep going there. It's a bit far from my house, but you can mail them your film which is great and you can get it on FTP so you can get it right away. I highly recommend them! And say Hello to Steve :)

Photos I took for Pony Anarchy Magazine issue #3 now up and I can finally show you these photos I took back in December of 2011 with Shannon Roxanne at the L.A. River. A fun guerrilla shoot, riding around downtown and stopping at random spots to take photos. Love those kind of shoots. I've been doing a lot of those lately actually. Can't wait to show you those photos. Great things to look forward to and share.

2011 in Review in Photos

2011 has been a year full of ups and downs. I've never been through such high-highs and low-lows. I've had the best day of my life and also the scariest day of my life where I saw my whole life flash right by me. It's the year I've traveled the most filled with dozen of roadtrips and encountered my first blizzard and hail storm. But all in all, it'll be a year I will never ever forget!

January

The first picture I took of the year on January 1st, 2011. I was already 8 and half months pregnant.

February

I endured the third biggest blizzard in Chicago's history and being 9 months pregnant I was crossing my fingers that I didn't give birth during the blizzard. We didn't have power for almost a week. No heat, the stove wasn't working so we had to eat cold food and junk food, it was horrible!

My water broke on February 16th at 11pm and gave birth to my son on the 17th of February at 11:47 am. Best day of my life!

March

My mother flew in from Los Angeles to visit us in Chicago to finally meet Oliver. The first time in weeks I was able to sleep and relax and actually eat. Spent a lot of time in my office working on pictures.

April

Loving life.

May

Building a blanket fort in the middle of our living room and sleeping in it for a few nights. Something I've always wanted to do as a kid, but couldn't.

Flying out to Los Angeles to visit my parents. Oliver's first plane ride at only 3 months old. My littlest adventurer has since then been on a plane 10+ times after that and 4+ train rides across the state.

June

My first ever hail storm the size of golf balls!!! Chicago is crazy! I'm missing Los Angeles. First the blizzard and now crazy hail.

Joshua's relative are out in Chicago for a visit and they kindly took us out to Shedd Aquarium to see the Jelly Fish exhibit. SO FUN!! I love the aquarium and how serene the jelly fish floats about.

July

Cathing fireflies in the front porch. The calm before the storm!

In the early a.m. of July 11th winds over 70 MPH blew a 100 year old tree into our home. I saw the whole thing happen right before my eyes. It happened so fast. One second I walked into the living room to check on Oliver sleeping and the next thing I looked up out the window, said to myself how extremely windy it was and gosh imagine if that branch broke... and right when I said that, the whole tree uprooted and fell right on top of our house. I ran and grabbed Oliver and screamed for dear life while Joshua grabs me and we run towards the back of the house for safety.

We were now homeless with no family around. The hotel became our home for the next month.

We ate junkfood and lots and lots of take out. I absolutely hated it.

Our home on FOX News. So weird seeing your home on the news and the tragedy that just occurred.

August

A month after the tree fell over our home.. its my birthday and we're still homeless, living in a hotel, but now we're packing our stuff and getting everything shipped over to Los Angeles for our big move back across the country. Looking forward to getting on with life and living in a home again and cooking actual meals instead of take outs.

September
Two weeks being home in LA and my first commissioned work after just being back. It feels so good!

Joshua and I opened a photography studio in Downtown LA. We're on a roll and it's only been 2 weeks since being back. God is good!

October

Oliver is 8 months and growing so much. Standing up and walking (with a walker). This is him in his little corner of his crib taking a nap. Being ever so in love.

November

Joshua and I go back to Chicago for my first photo show. I have 9 photos up and already sold one =)

Eleven eleven, my photograph is the photo of the day for PhotoVogue part of Italian Vogue.

December

This month I've had two of my favorite shoots yet. One is the one above with Lily @ Ford Models and one with Shannon Roxanne, a fun guerrilla style shoot. Can't wait to post these projects up.

I've met so many great people this year. People I've met through Facebook, Instagram, MM, and my website. Had the pleasure to work with so many talented artists, stylists, and amazing models. Been honored to be featured on Beautiful/Decay Magazine Book #7 (so crazy cause I used to subscribe to the magazine in High School) and other online publications. Can't believe that at one point my site got 5,000+ hits a day! Never imagined that. Want to thank everyone who support my work and the kind emails, comments, and tweets I receive. I also would like to thank those who purchased my prints and theme. Thank you so very much! Truly. You've all made 2011 an unforgettable one. Cannot wait for 2012 and the great hope it brings.

Sharina − 2009

Since I’m back to blogging again, I thought I’d post some photos that have never been posted on my site. These photos are of my dear friend, Sharina. We met through mutual friends from Myspace some years ago. These were taken in San Diego back in 2009 when we first met. It’s always so wonderful when you meet people who are so down to earth with such warmth that just inspires you to be better. Sharina and I quickly became friends and has been there for me through one of the darkest most trying time of my life. I thank her for all her prayers and bringing me closer to my Maker.

A impromptu shoot I did while visiting family in Indiana. I met Tasha on Instagram and during my week stay in Indiana we decided to meet up and do a short photoshoot in this open field and other random parts of Richmond, Indiana. My Grandpa lend us his flag to use as prop. Thanks, Grandpa!!
